Always on the look out for activities or events happening in Perth, M saw Quit Targa West being advertised and decided it would be something right up his alley! Quit Targa West was a rally being held over the weekend of August 26th - 29th and the action was in multiple locations, from Whiteman Park, Toodyay and the city.
On the Friday night we saw that they had closed a section of Northbridge and they were showing off the cars that were being used in the rally, giving people an opportunity to see the cars up close and personal. We didn’t attend this but we drove past it and saw there was a big crowd interested in them.
It was such a beautiful day on Sunday so we decided to go to Langley Park in the city and see some of the action. First we struggled with finding parking down there and it surprised us that there were so many people considering we didn’t see a lot of advertising about the event. We started off at the rally end and watched the cars speed away. I wasn’t really interested like M was but it wasn’t as boring as I thought it would be!
Over from the action, there was a car show which I found more exciting. There were a huge variety of cars in the show including GT Falcons, Hyundai turbo i30, Porsches, Skylines and Toranas’ just to name a few.
They also had an area sectioned off where people were practising paintballing. This was quite good as you could watch them running around from each other and also getting hit with the paintballs.
If you want to read any more information regarding the event, please see their website http://www.targawest.com.au. On the website you will be able to see all the information on the competitors, as well as the details for the events that occurred over the weekend.
