New Year, New Challenges and Wedding Planning Ahoy!

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you had a magical Christmas/ New year! My Christmas was lovely and spent with those I care muchly for and New Years was good. M and I spent it with his friends this year at Rubix in the city. They had $10 cocktails but I really enjoyed the $20 jugs of Pimms! They also handed 99 red balloons around just before midnight. These balloons held numbers so when popped, we could win a prize. We walked away with 3 bottles of wine so we didn't do too badly.

I have been MIA from the blog lately and to be honest, I have loved the time off from everything! When I first got engaged I was determined not to let my wedding take over my life but now when it is 4.5 months away I have to kick my butt into action! Reading wedding magazines and websites is almost depressing, apparently at this stage I should have booked a florist 8 months ago (not done), should have ordered my invites 5 months ago (really? 5 months ago!) and completed my gift registry!
Over the break, apart from enjoying my new hammock and  nespresso coffee machine, M and I organised quite a few wedding items including the wedding rings, stationery, honeymoon and have 60% settled on a band.
We also went out to Rosehill to have another look around and try to visualise how things will look on the day.

We have also decided that for our honeymoon we will be doing the following;

Perth → Cairns - Spend 4/5 days going to the Daintree Rainforest, The Great Barrier Reef, Port Douglas and surrounds
Cairns → Hamilton Island (Whitsundays) - We are looking at trips to Daydream Island but we pretty much want this to be relaxation time
Hamilton Island → Brisbane - Spend a day or so in Brisbane, maybe 2 days and go to a theme park on the Gold Coast.
Brisbane → Perth - We are going to be flying home Business class on my frequent flyer points.

I am definitely starting to get excited!

Intermission Time...

So I know I have been awfully quiet of late. I have been super busy with Christmas (I cant believe it is only 4 days away!), wedding plans (who knew a wedding took up so much time?) and getting a brand new job!
So 2011 will be a big change for me and I am definitely looking forward to the challenges and new experiences it will bring!
Hopefully I will get some more time in the next couple of days as I have so much to write about including meals all over Perth including The Breakwater and the Duckstein.

Dr Pepper Jelly Bellys!

I know quite a few people don’t like Dr Pepper but I absolutely love it. I also have tried Dr Pepper Berries & Cream, Diet Dr Pepper and Dr Pepper Cherry Vanilla and love them just as much.
So when I was purchasing a Xmas present off USA Foods I also ordered some of these bad boys….

They taste just like Dr Pepper and even though I don’t like jelly beans I am loving these.

Birthday!

So tomorrow I turn the big TWO- FIVE! I know this isn't old at all and in 10 years time I will be wishing I was 25 again.  It’s funny though because I remember thinking when I was younger that in the year 2000 I will be 15 and like, omg, that is so old! I never had any ideas when I was younger on what I would be doing or where I would be in the world when I was 25. I still don’t feel like an adult in a lot of ways though, Is there a set age where you suddenly realise you are an adult?

I also have a twin brother so I am sharing this with somebody too. I am not too sure what he is doing and as we have different groups of friends we most likely won’t be seeing each other.

So what do I have planned for this momentous occasion? Well I am heading out for drinks with friends tomorrow night and going to HaLu for dinner on the Sunday night with M. We also have a lot of little things planned for the weekend like going out for breakfast tomorrow morning and taking the our furry kids to a Dog Breakfast on Sunday morning. I have already received a little gift from L, an OPI nail polish in “Lucky Lucky Lavender” and some Hand Therapy in Rosewater from Crabtree & Evelyn. She knows me so well!

So right now I am glad that my shitty work week is almost over and I can thank the thought of hopefully have a cocktail at some point over the weekend for getting me through it!

Have a great weekend everyone

Tagged - 7 Questions

I have been tagged by Emmie at Desert Darling. This means I need to answer 7 questions she has asked me, and then tag 7 more bloggers with different questions so that the game carries on! So first of all, my answers…

1.  If you could give your teenage self one piece of advice what would it be?
I would tell the younger me not to be so hard on themselves and the people around them.

2.  Tell me about your first pet
My first pet was a poodle named Sweep. We used to watch a TV show which had puppets on it called Sooty and Sweep.  We got him from the Poodle Rescue Society and he was a lovely little dog.  Unfortunately on Christmas Eve 1996 he got hit by a car and we buried him in the front yard.

3.   If you had 1 million dollars to give to one charity, which charity would you chose?
This is such a hard question as there are so many deserving charities! After much thought though I have decided I would send it to the RSPCA.

4.  Of the seven deadly sins (wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy, gluttony) which do you consider the worst?
Greed; people do some horrible things for money and it can change people very quickly.

5.         What is your star sign?
Libra! I don’t really follow my star sign but I am excited that it is only 12 days until my birthday!

6. What is your happiest childhood memory?
I was very fortunate to have a great childhood and there are so many things which stand out. One of these would be my dad taking my twin brother and I into the city for Christmas shopping. We would save some money up and go into the city on the train and have breakfast at McDonalds and buy some biscuits at Myer in the city. I also remember buying some soaps from the Body Shop that were in the shape of endangered animals. This is one of many I could write about though!

7.  What were you doing at this time three years ago?
I was heading off to Bali for my birthday with M for our first overseas holiday together. I had started to go through a bit of a rough patch, with the worse yet to come. Funny how things can change over time, I never thought I would be where I am today!

So now I need to tag 7 more peope but here's the thing, I don't think the blogs I read will respond. Instead, I would love to open it up to everyone and hear your answers to these questions in the comments! Here are the questions;

1. If you had to eat one thing, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
2. Are you a cooker or a cleaner?
3. How did you meet your oldest friend?
4. If you could kill someone and get away with it, would you?
5. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
6. Do you sleep on the same side of the bed every night or do you switch?
7. Are you a bare feet or shoes person?
